Automation

Utilizing various control systems for remotely manipulating equipment

As the industry progresses toward artificial intelligence and machine automation, more and more companies are tending to adopt these technologies to their advantage. Automation not only removes the risk involved during human intervention, but also behaves more precisely and predictably. This can be beneficial both in areas of high risk, or where strict control is required in the highest regard.

Automation or automatic control can be used in various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery; processes in factories; within vehicles, and many other applications with minimal or reduced human intervention.

Not only are ease of use technologies now becoming a part of modern living spaces, we've also seen the trend toward business utilization. One such example is equipment rental companies taking advantage of remote ignition and kill switches to ensure their vehicles aren't being used outside or above the agreed parameters. Property owners who rent holiday homes are able to grant access to a resident with a smart phone using an electronic key for a specific period, eliminating the need to do a physical key handover.

The application of automation ranges from a household thermostat for underfloor heating, activating depending on ambient temperatures, or controlling the blinds depending on lighting conditions, all the way to large industrial control systems with thousands of input parameters and output control signals. In essence, the control complexity can range from simple on-off control to multi-variable high-level algorithms.
